The competency-based growth pathway is a pilot pathway created in 2022 to help students develop a growth-oriented mindset through feedback-seeking behavior, coaching, and the deliberate pursuit of competency development. Students in this pathway do not receive grades (norm-referenced assessment) but instead, receive competency-based assessments using the AAMC entrustable professional activities (EPA) framework across all clerkships. Their assessment data is reviewed continually by the student, coach, pathway director, and an entrustment committee to guide their individual development and ensure they are meeting competency standards.
